Scope and Contents

This catalog was apparently a field book made on a collecting trip to Mexico, chiefly the Veracruz River and State, Feb. 24 to April 9, 1942. Worth made his collections in two types of surroundings, either in open country or in the Cerros (forested hills between 50 and 500 feet high). One hundred and forty entries are given with the type of plant, date, location and unnamed description.

Scope and Contents American conchologist, friend of Louis Agassiz, member of the National Museum staff, accompanying the personnel on the North Pacific Exploring Expedition, 1853-56, under the command of Capts. Ringgold and Rodgers. Later moved to Chicago where he planned a monumental work on mollusks, for which he borrowed material from a great many institutions.
